This is a fascinating site that allows one to get a clear sense of the role this site has played in nearly a dozen different cultures who have occupied it through the ages. There are clear contributions from pre-Hellenic Greece, Hellenic Greece, Early Roman Empire...More

Well worth a visit if you're in the area; some paths a trifle taxing for the crumblies ... Not critical, however.

I had not heard of Butrint before our Ancient Civilization themed cruise brought it to our attention. What a surprise! This is a sizable ancient historic site, with wonderfully intact ruins. The many layers of history date to the Bronze Age. Roman ruins predominate, but...More

For those of us interested in history and archaeology, this is a must see. You will walk in/around/on the site, and the remains of the Greek amphitheater are great. What an intimate performance it must have been! Many of the Greek and Roman buildings still...More

This site is not easy to navigate and may be a little dangerous for wayward tots, but other than that it is an amazing site. These ruins show the historical evolution of this area from the Bronze Age up through the Greeks, the Romans, the...More

I imagine you'll have the opportunity to book on board your cruise. If not the tour companies will almost certainly be awaiting the ship at the port to make the most of the visiting tourists. Enjoy!
