having gone down in the day time by carriage, i wanted to walk, and going at night, with the lights all the way down the siq was just a magical experience. This is a must if at all possible. we actually travelled in 2006

It is a wonderful and peaceful experience away from the day time tourist. There were 200 of my closest others who came along too and they are a part of it all. Enjoy the night time walk and then go again in the daylight.

Determined to do this - it isn't on every night so check if you want to do it. Take a torch as ground is uneven. You get offered free ginger tea - but take water too as it is nearly 2km walk to site. Route lit by candles, musicians perform on original instruments. Beautiful and a very special evening. Recommended.... More

Petra by night is just an endless (and tiring) walk in the dark. The 7 km walk culminates in a live musical performance outside the treasury. The path is lit with candles and looks pretty, but it gets old really fast. There were at least 200 people taking this walk, so it's not exactly spooky like some people have called... More

This is a magical way to see Petra. Definitely recommend you do this first before seeing it by day. It is a great and mystical introduction. Well worth the walk in the semi-dark!

I would never recommend this to anyone. It's just a bunch of candles inside brown paper bags along the Siq Trail and a poorly produced 20 min music concert by amateur musicians. +4km walk up and down.

Okay so this is tacky and touristy and spoiled a little by the crowds and everything that some of the other reviews say. The show isn't all that amazing and you have to jostle with lots of other people for pictures at the end. However, despite all of that it's still worth doing. The Treasury lit by candle light is... We arrived late afternoon to Petra and decided to eat and rest and then do petra by night. Very good decision! It was very beautiful and meditating to walk along the candles and see the stars. I'm glad we did the night tour before we saw Petra in daylight. But if you go, please walk quietly. Then you will get... More

Ruined by the large numbers of people coming in. People sat in the way of each other. It's a lovely walk, but Petra is worth seeing during the day.

This is such a nice idea, the place is so beautiful and the candle light makes it so atmospheric, the stars are spectacular but it is completely ruined by people walking with torches so the candle light element of the walk is gone, then when you get to the treasury it's just constant flashes as people take what will almost...
