Considered to be the apex of Nabatean architecture. On top it has 2 extra bays compared to the treasury, making the facade feel more balanced. The decoration of the treasury is absent making for a stronger aesthetic. And besides all that it’s jolly nice sitting...More

Climbing up to the Monastery takes effort, my recommendation is to do whatever to stay hydrated and avoid heat/sunstroke. But once up there, you forget all your sorrows you’ve been through to reach Monastery. The view is beyond magical!

Don't miss the monastery. I highly suggest you rent a donkey. Going up is hard and I'm in great shape. But going down is EASY. Everyone we passed who was walking all told us, "you guys are so smart". They all wished they had gotten...More

Long but nice walking to reach the monastery. They just looked at the beauty of the facade and then the inside was small and just practice.

You need to take the more than 800 steps to reach the top but is more than worth. The place is fantastic and the view from there, or even better from the top a few letters higher is absolutely unique!

The less known (after The Treasury) but in my view more impressive, and the largest structure in Petra. You view this in the afternoon when it’s gets the arvo sun. It’s quite a long stepped climb up (1-hour+) but don’t do Petra without seeing this....More

How much time do you have? I ran up in about 20 minutes, but it wasn't easy :) ... it all depends on your physical shape - your twins will not walk up there. it's easy to figure it out: if you don't feel tired by the time... More

I hate to disagree with Mr BobandSharon but using a donkey is not advisable up or down. It is very hard on the animals and it is not an easy ride because of the steep areas. If you are willing to take the time to go slowly... More
