    Wonderful and awe-inspiring
The ticket is relatively expensive, but SO worth it! The walk down is very easy to do, gently sloping. A guide can explain about the history and what you are seeing as you walk down. The rose colored canyon walls are just amazing, as is the first view of the Treasury as you emerge from the passage. Once you come out, in front of the Treasury are lots of camels, vendors, a refreshment stand of sorts, and options to hike up higher for a different view. We did not find the vendors any more pushy than any other place, and a simple no seemed to suffice. Take water and wear good walking shoes!

One of the 7 Wonders of the World
We can see why Petra is one of the seven wonders of the world! It was grand and spectacular! Around every corner is another awe-inspiring view. We absolutely loved it. If you’re in shape the walking isn’t too bad either. You don’t go over rocks or bad terrain. You walk on a dirt road that’s easy to navigate or you can take a golf cart for a fee.

Petra. It really is a wonder of the world.
We got a private cab from Amman. Took around 3 hours. It was worth it. The walk through the canyon is good enough on its own but the moment you see the treasury come into view is something that will never ever leave you. You can spend hours there but there is so much more to see. Make sure you take water. It’s hot!

    Petra
This was on my bucket list. The trip had canceled twice due to the pandemic, but the third time was the charm, and it did not disappoint. The angles of the sun hitting the rocks was breathtaking. My only tip to travelers. The horseback riding opportunity does not extend into the entrance path to Petra. I believe, however, the the one horse drawn carriage I saw can be hired for the path to the Treasury. In hindsight, I would do that. There is a lot more to Petra than the Treasury. If you have time, take the path to the theatre and climb the rocks opposite the Treasury for an amazing view.

Last Wonder of the world for us to visit! #bucket-list
Our last Wonder of the World to visit was Petra. We postponed it for Pandemic but glad we did it after everything opened up. Our guides, weather, hotels, were outstanding but the feeling of visiting the sites priceless. Don’t wait to visit this Wonder before it’s too late .

Bucket list dream that did not disappoint
I have wanted to go to Petra for very many years and I have to say that having looked forward to it for so long, it did not disappoint. I hadn't realised it was such a big place though! Be aware that it took us 1 .5 hours to stroll back to the coach park as most websites say it is a 50 minute walk! We went in early December and the heat was very comfortable around 23 degrees C. Toilets are 'free' but you are expected to give the Bedouin handing it a single sheet of toilet paper at the entrance - a small donation. All in all a fabulous experience especially the long walk through the Siq and emerging at The Treasury! Just WOW.

    Deserves to be world- famous
Wow! The site way exceeded my high expectations. The carved buildings are amazing, the colors were amazing, great walk through the Siq. This was the highlight of our trip to Jordan. Just remember it is a lot of walking, 5 mile round trip from the entrance to the main walk end. The entire site is much larger, you could spend days here with various hikes.

    World Class
We visited in very early December and the day temperatures were just right at about 23 degrees. It was cold at night so if you are outside of the town there may not be much to do. Obviously the place is commercialised with large car parks and an expensive entrance building with corresponding high admission fees. Once you are through the gates then the ruins are preserved although traders, camels, bedouin abound. But this is part of it. We just had an extended morning there. It is hard work and going to the end of the Colonnaded Street and back was exhausting. However some of the younger members of the group had no trouble hiking to the Monastery and other trails. There are refreshments just past the Great Temple where you can rest and this is a good place to head for as a goal. Probably 2 easy days there would be ideal but obviously you face the long walk and back down the gorge each time you visit. We didn't think the candle and music trip in the evening was good value but you do get a different aspect of the ruins.

    Fantastic
We spent threee full days in the site walking and viewing from various perspectives, including the Monastery and the high Place of Sacrifice. There is plenty to see, including Byzantine churches and plenty to wonder about. With a little confidence it is easy to avoid the crowds

Definitely a wonder of the world!
If you visit Jordan, Petra is a MUST see! Petra is a beautiful, archaeological site that was home to the Nabatean Kingdom. Visiting the site needs a full day (at least) and a lot of energy as there's a lot of walking involved (especially if you'd like to hike all the way to the Monastery). I would recommend getting a guide for at least half the site (The Treasury till Qasr al Bint) so that you're able to learn more about the Nabatean Kingdom and get further context on the different sites that you'll see. We had an amazing, knowledgable and patient guide (Mo'tassem) who was from the visitor's centre.

Petra was definitely the highlight of my tour in Jordan. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The whole experience was made easy and convenient due to our driver Waleed from Batuta Hostel. He is genuinely kind hearted and treated us like family. I not only saw one of the wonders of the world but also made a dear friend. His contact number is 00962799952938.

He also showed us the back road to Petra (from little petra to monastery). This made it so we saw all the sights in half the time of starting at the visitors center. I highly recommend this if you have only one day in Petra

I was lucky to arrive in Amman to be greeted at the airport by Ibrahim Salameh who became my driver & Guide for the next 6 days! Where I thought I was just seeing Petra Ibrahim delivered an extraordinary tour that will always stay with me and is the best of my extensive travels. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was possible and I felt very secure in his most capable hands. If you are travelling to Jordan he is definitely the person to have showing you 9627 72365512

Well it's simply stunning and as far as tourist activities go, fantastic value. You likely have one day included with your Jordan Pass which includes the visa too and entrance to other sites like the Archilogical park in Jaresh, Roman Theatre in Amman, Citadel in Amman and more.
There are lots of stalls selling the usual junk that almost nobody wants, and you will be offered a donkey, horse, or golf buggy about 500 times during your day. For those with walking challenges or that might find 5-8 miles in potentially hot environments and with some walking over sand difficult, it's worth considering the cart. I travelled from Aqaba - Petra - Aqaba for 18 JD using the JETT bus service which was very efficient for this trip on November 11th 2023.

Petra is not just another 7 seven wonders of the world but it’s really magificent! I had an amazing experience with our driver Mr.Waleed who not only beautifully arranged the whole itinerary for us for 2 days including Petra, wadi mujib, wadi Musa, dead sea, mount Nebo, but took great care of me and my mother. His car is loaded with all goodies and munches and he will ensure you never miss any local cuisine. He treated us with delicious falafel sandwich and unlimited water bottles inside his car , he ensured we were hydrated in the heat. To my surprise the charges are very reasonable for his services.I had a very good experience and felt safe during whole trip.He even let me drive his car for a bit which was superb!I strongly recommend Mr.Waleed to be your go-to person in Jordan for your trip. His contact details are 00962799952938.

Petra is one of the seven wonders of the world and it was absolutely amazing to visit. We had a one day visit as this was suitable for our family group (two 70 plus adults and daughter). Due to physical restrictions, we booked a golf cart to transport us from the Visitor Centre through Le Ciq to the Treasury. After viewing the Treasury, we continued on to the City Complex, with one of the adults travelling on a donkey ( worth the 15 JDR - approximately £18 return). Two of us then rode up the 1,000 stairs to the Monastery (what a thrilling donkey ride) and walked back (30 minutes). It tales 90 minutes to walk up and you need to be fit! The Monastery, A’Deir, is the best preserved building on the site.
It is definitely worth hiring a guide to enhance your experience.
If you stay 2 or more days , you can visit many of the other sites.

Petra fully justifies its ranking in the revised Seven Wonders of the World. In respect of its monuments, I found the Monastery more awe inspiring than the Treasury. Those who moan about the souvenir sellers should remember that the Bedouin lived in Petra up until 40 years ago, when they were evicted to make this a tourist attraction. They now rely on visitors to make a living and personally I felt sorry for some of them who don't appear to successfully sell anything. The sales talk is not too overpowering, you simply say 'no thank you' and keep walking. As regards complaints about the entry charges, you would be crazy to pay these as a Jordan Pass is cheaper. The pass will give you entry to not just Petra but also most other archaeological sites in Jordan, plus if you purchase it before arriving in the country it negates any visa fees. For those who like hiking, there are plenty of trails in the park & lots of steps!
