We spent almost an hour studying this entire street of stone carvings inside the Petra site. Really stunning. They are in essence buildings carved into the Jorge of the site. Highly decorative.

Seeing one of these stone carvings is wonderful. A whole street full of them is simply remarkable. Don't miss this one.

As you continue to walk into the gorge you see numerous carved buildings embedded into the walls. Some look part comp0leted only but most are amazing in quality of workmanship/

The Royal Tombs are worth a side trip. The colours of the rock are simply amazing. Don't miss it or the other sites just around the corner from it such as the Tomb of Sextius Florentius.

You will pass this right after you walk from the treasury to the theater. You can also enter this building.

Prepare for at least a 5 mile walk especially during our visit when it was 106 degrees, bring lots of suntanned lotion, good walking shoes and lots of water. Breathtaking rocks of reddish orange surrounding you. Narrow pathways leading you to see the ancient aqueducts,...More

Part of the Petra trek - don't just stop at the Treasury but keep on going and catch many other sites.
