Petra is so big and hard to imagine a city of this size in its day. The façades are amazing and one can visualise this bustling place in the region.

This street contains amazing structures and carvings that just go on and on. It is part of the walk through Petra and if you are a stair climber, you can get closer than I did. Those stairs were very intimidating and I was comfortable viewing...More
More amazing facades carved into the rock. Lovely walk between the Treasury and Royal Tombs. Keep watching on both sides of the trail. On the way out you will probably notice things that you missed on the way in.
You're going to see this if you walk the entire "lower level" of the Petra site. And it's impressive and interesting -- just not as impressive as The Monastery or The Treasury. But how can you top those two?!

You may be tired, thirsty and ready to turn around once you reach the Treasury BUT I can assure you that there are more incredible sights to see if you keep on trekkin'! Just before you get to the arena is the Street of Facades...More
This is a row of tombs. If you come up close, you can see that the stone is multi-coloured. Again, a different aspect of Petra.
This place at Petra has a nice little shop which scribbles your name in the sand which you get from stones of Petra . This is the only UNESCO recognised shop operational from last 30 years. The rest of the shops around Petra or Amman...More
A site deserving of better excavation and protection, deserving of better respect as to why it's there. Respect from the curators of Petra, but more especially the blind tourists who lack respect for the history and reverence of the dead.
