Having read about this beach in lonely planet it was a " must" ...however we abandoned a perilous drive along the dirt track and eventually found our way to a carpark near the monastery ( access was barely mentioned in the reviews but it was...More

We had to visit Preveli Beach as it was described in the Lonely Planet as one of the best beaches on Crete. In our first attempt we drove and parked at the top, but half way down the cliff we decided, with 2 kids, we...More

You can drive to the Preveli cliffs and walk down (and back up!) the hundred or so steps to the beach, or you can take the boat from Plakias. There is a taverna on the beach for lunch. Unfortunately very crowded in high season.

Very difficult to reach on foot - if you need an exercise then be free to walk 511 stears down. There is excursion boat, but is best to stay in the afternoon. Don't miss the walk into the plam forest along the river

This is a very special beach. Difficult to reach on foot or car (easier with excursion boat). Make sure to arrive after 5pm, when the crowds depart and stay until sunset. Don't miss the walk into the forest along the river and the natural water...More

We took a day trip via boat and while it's not a bad beach, it's dirty sand and pebbles closer to the water. The sea is beautiful and I still enjoyed the day but it wasn't as good as the photos made out. It is...More

If you go by car/bike you get great views while reaching it and while climbing down - but then you have to climb back up ;) It's surely worth to see it once but it's not every day beach because of the crowds.

We drove here on our tour round Crete.OK the beach was nice and the palm trees lovely but we have seen nicer beaches and it was very over crowded.

We went by boat and had a nice day out, the setting is lovely and the beach is good, the forest interesting however just far too many people for us. The geese are amusing but the people aren't !
