Our first ever experience with a Cara Cara variety navel orange. They are huge!! The size and texture of a grapefruit with a sweet reddish flesh. Forgot to ask , if they grow them on location or obtained them from an outside source. Just trying to help, if someone wanted to know of a source!

We're staying at the RV Park just around the corner from California Fruit Depot, which is within easy walking distance. It is well worth the quick stop off Highway 58 (which connects Bakersfield to Barstow) if you happen to be passing by. The young woman at the register could not have been more personable and you can sample almost everything before purchasing. They specialize in oranges and dates that they grow but also offer other yummies. They have dried fruits and vegetables, stuffed olives, nuts, trail mixes, candy, specialty sauces and my new favorite-Atomic Frog Balls. They're spicy/dilly marinated brussel sprouts with jalapeños, garlic, "secret spices" and red pepper flakes--zippety doo da!!

We stumbled upon this place as we were traveling to Barstow. It's only about 1/4 mile from the freeway. What a fun place. Samples of everything and lots of fun flavors of nuts, fruits and snacks. Prices were very reasonable and the girl working there was friendly and helpful. We stocked up with several goodies for the rest of our road trip.

We saw the signs for California Fruit Depot as we were driving down the freeway. So glad we stopped by here. The woman working here was so delightful! Extremely sweet, funny, friendly and helpful. She REALLY made our shopping experience wonderful. We sampled a lot of delicious things and ended up buying a lot as well. The oranges are our favorite! Wish we'd bought more. Can't wait to return to this wonderful, quaint store.

Small, yet epic fruit (and more) shop. Everything we've purchased has been fantastic. The dried date bits are delicious in oatmeal and banana bread. They also have an eclectic array of flavored olive oils. The olive oil is good for dipping and turns popcorn into flavor corn when popped in it! The fruit is fresh and delicious and the service is exceptional.

I normally buy 20 lbs of oranges and 20 lbs red grapefruit (when available) a week. I've worn out two juicers making the best juice money can buy. I prefer buying during the week as the staff is a little more professional.
