This is one of my all time favorite places, and I feel bereft if I don't visit at least once a month. Please take into account that I am a CA Native Plant Nerd (TM) but it's really a magical place. If you like the old WPA-Style national parks architecture and trails, this is for you. Delightful trails and human... More

Tilden is usually nice and cool on hot summer days. It's great for short hikes. I like to take friends, and hike and sit for conversation rather than sitting at Starbucks or my kitchen table all day. Lovely! I've gone here many times over the years and during different season.

In the summer they have periodic evening concerts set in a beautiful outdoor redwood grove. A magical place to spend an evening. They also have periodic opportunities for plant advice from master gardeners. You can even bring in a leaf from a sick plant for a recommended treatment! And a great place to see plants of the world, grouped by... More

I have been coming to the Tilden Park Botanical Garden for many years - entrance is free and I love exploring it with a camera or just relaxing and enjoying the sound of the creek trickling through the center of the park. There is always something interesting to see - from an abundance of flowers in spring to colorful lichens... More

The best time to see this delightful garden is after a few heavy rains when the water is flowing. It is amazing how the displays model various California climates and geographical areas. We like to go to their native plant sales. The docents are very informative and passionate about natives.

There is an admission fee and a parking fee across the street. Free-first Thursday of the month. Closed on public holidays and on first Tuesday of the month. Plant and tree lovers don't miss.
