I suspect that more visitors go to the UC Berkeley botanical garden than to this garden specializing in the plants of California. This one is a gem. I like strolling the paths to look at all the native plants from different parts of the state....More

Go early in the morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. The garden opens at 8:30 or so. We went in late March, so there wasn't that much colour. Families with kids start to arrive after 11:00 but that's not a problem.

Both of the Botanical Gardens in Berkeley are excellent, the university one and this Regional Parks one. Very, very crowded and well used. Lots of great trails. Good for the entire family.

The best time to see this delightful garden is after a few heavy rains when the water is flowing. It is amazing how the displays model various California climates and geographical areas. We like to go to their native plant sales. The docents are very...More
