Incredible Treasures

Loved this visit and was very impressed with the building as well as the incredible ceramics!
They assigned me an English guide and she shared history lessons and tales. Grazie mille!

I did not know enough Italian to get the full knowledge, but the guide who showed us around this fine old building, she could not speak English, with sign language and her perseverance she was not going to let us go without some understanding of where the ceramics came from, she was brilliant....

A great museum on a hill-top town
Oct 2013 • Couples
This little museum is a jewel. Situated at the highest point in Burgio, a steep (!) hill-top town in Sicily, the museum has a beautiful - and beautifully presented - collection of local painted tiles and other ceramics. It's all professionally done. The museum is a local initiative, so don't expect the usual amenities such as cafes, bookshops, though I've heard there are plans. It's a steep walk up to the former monastery where the museum is housed, and I don't recommend driving on the very narrow lanes. But the visit is well worth the effort. Not sure what costs since we didn't have to pay.
