We had seen this village in our guide book, and are so pleased we visited. All the houses are decorated with symbol like patterns. Its like going back in time, a real piece of history.

This is a must visit if you are able to get to western Slovakia. Really gorgeous folk museum and village houses. The best part is the restaurant-traditional Slovak food and drinks, and cheap, about a third of the price of Bratislava.

Village of painted houses as a fairy tale about a gingerbread house in the foothills of Strážovské vrchy. Park on the edge of the village, because there is not enough space in the parking close to the information center. I recommend going through the alleyways...More

Beautiful UNESCO village preserving their folk style. It is worth the visit! There is not much shadow on sunny day of shelter on a rainy day, so better to plan the visit according to the weather ;)

The village name is derived from a Slovakian word for a lumberjack who makes noise while he works, and this quiet town booms folk art. The village dates to 1272 but most of the houses were replaced by a fire in 1921 and others that...More
