Dunes and Sonoma State Beaches

Beautiful-an amazing glimpse of our California Coast. We visited most of the Sonoma State Beaches and the Dunes. Well worth the time to do so.

We spend a couple of weeks every year in Bodega Bay, and the dunes are quite magnificent! They are north of town and can be accessed through Bodega Dunes State Park, as well as other areas along Highway One. The views of the mighty Pacific are mesmerizing -- take a blanket and a bottle of wine, and just enjoy!

I have a cottage right next to the dunes. I love walking from there to Salmon Creek State Beach. It is a hard walk but almost no one is there. There dunes are gigantic but the scenery changes and it gives me a sense of peace being there. Also, it is easy to get lost but usually you can find... More

A nice campground and we went midweek so it wasn't very crowded. Good spots with shade and nice separation from your neighbors too. There are sites with a view of Bodega Bay too. Campground has a beach but you have to drive to it or bike ride to it which we did but it is a hilly bike ride still... More

We loved this quiet place. The bay-side campgrounds are windy, but a bit further back, the dunes block the wind off Bodega Bay. Many are very sheltered. The people running it are friendly, and a bit less uptight about dogs than most State campgrounds. I couldn't believe that the bathrooms ran hot water, and the hot showers are free and... More

We love coming here for a quick camping trip. It is close to home but it feels like we are a world away. For the price ($35/night) we get a nice clean site, clean and well maintained bathrooms, hot showers and water is available. If you like the sounds of the ocean and don't mind the wind, you'll love this... More

This part of the coast is very flat and low. The dunes are the ideal ocean dunes- tall grasses, light breezes, and are very scenic.

This area has beautiful formations, coastal hiking trails to explore, and a great vantage point for whale watching.

Walked around, very peaceful, pleasant weather. Beauitufl area. I would highly recommend it. A bit difficult to find parking but don't give up, totally worth it.
