Work off all those wine drinking calories with a hike through Hendy Woods. We included this on our "things to do in the Anderson Valley" section of our wedding website, and EVERY SINGLE person who made the trip out there came back positively glowing. It’s...More

We spent a few hours hiking through the woods. The redwoods are so impressive and the environs so peaceful. We come back here every time we are in the area.

A majestic grove of old growth trees that are ginormous ! I camped here a couple of nights and it has just the very zen quiet solitude I was looking for. I found a site in the Azalea loop which is a bit quieter. There...More

nice, quite, pretty little campground. Choose a spot close to the restrooms, but there wasn't much traffic through our spot anyway. Bathrooms were clean, and separate showers. The only thing was that I wasn't expecting was the showers were a pay shower. I had never...More

Gorgeous, peaceful walk among the redwoods off the path of the day use area. Would like to come back more prepared so I can walk the entire hike.

The campground offers two loops both with some great spots offering shade, space and privacy. There are showers and the restrooms are clean. There are various hiking trails to explore from the campground. We were at site 39 which is a nice site but recommend...More

As an out of towner, the views here did not disappoint and were worth the drive. Not much more else to add, other than pack your patience for the road construction along the way.

Pretty place, full of big Redwoods and trails running through them. A nice place to camp out, or have a family picnic.

We went right after a rain and some of the trails had been washed out however we were able to walk through the old growth redwoods. If you have been in an old growth redwood forest, this one might not seem spectacular, but there was...More

Title of state park wrong. It is Big Henry State Park. Trees up to over 300 feet high and 14 feet in diameter. Level trail and not a long walk from parking lot. There are some very large trees saved from the ax. Not a...More

It really doesn't look like you could get a cot in there. I think you'd be OK with having the cot outside, and maybe you could have a small tent outside, too. There is usually a limit of 8 people per site. Check with the... More

It is not a problem. Go to the park website for complete information. We did not camp this last visit, but we have camped here in the past. It is magical camping under the redwoods.

Dogs are allowed on leashes in the park. The river area in the park is wide and flat so a great place for the dogs to run and fetch but it is very rocky. Another idea is to go all the way to the coastal access area where the... More
