In previous years we were able to drive on the base and privately tour this large base. Now security concerns have limited visits to organized tours and to vehicles with active duty or retired military I.D.s. We went with an organized group with a pre-arranged itinerary. It is a very interesting and eye-opening experience to see this large community of... More

We stayed here thanks to our US marine friend. Were from the British military so were able to use the facilities with his recommendation. WOW!!! What can I say! The beach was perfect, the sea cold but very inviting albeit quite rough at times and we had a luxury villa which was lovely. All the people we met were so... More

Kudos to Faye Jonason, volunteer and museum officer, who gave us a private tour after another group we were going to join in with cancelled. There is much history in The Ranch House. It is the former ranch of the original owners of the property before the marines took over the area. The Mechanized Museum had some really cool pieces... More

We have a friendship with this young past Marine and now Navy Officer recently assigned to Camp Pendleton after a recent Mideast combat assignment. He was in full uniform and the salutes to his SUV by troops throughout the base were something to see. He used to call me Dick but now it was sir until I suggested he return... More

This is a most valuable tour, and honors the brave young men and women who have trained here to develop the traits of honor, character and leadership that have exemplified Marines throughout history. And it was interesting to see the various commands that call this base home. I particularly enjoyed watching helicopter operations near the ocean....for sure practice makes perfect.... More

I was pleasantly surprised by how new and modern most of Camp Pendleton is. The base is much different than the military installations of my service days. The housing is as good as any civilian neighborhood and the service personnel can acquire needed furniture free of charge at a local distribution center.
