I have to say we are cat people and therefore the presence of a set of kittens rather surpassed for our young people the astonishing beauty of the church. I however found it quite stunning and we were so pleased we went

This Greek Orthodox monastery is very interesting.. There is only one monk living there with his father for 30 years! The church is decorated in beautiful murals showing scenes from the life of Jesus. The gardens are stunning

This is in an area on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee which is crammed with chapels, shrines and grander churches, celebrating each of the acts of Jesus recorded in the New Terstament which happened in or around Capernaum, (and there were lots of them!). This is one of many of which, frankly; mostly disappear into a combined memory without especially standing out. Still worth visiting, though, along with as many of the others as you have time for.

I would love to go back and stare at the ceiling, again. So much artistry. Not heavy on tourists but beautiful and the staff are very kind. You can walk through the garden, or down to the sea.

This church steeped in history and the location of Jesus and his ministry is a wonderful experience. The location is to die for without the biblical history.

The Ortodox Church of the Twelve Apostles is a small representation of amazing religious art and architectural details.

Unfortunately we were not able to visit inside this site, but saw it from afar visiting Capernaum. I do know it is in reference to Jesus’ post resurrection to 7 of his disciples.
Our tour guide told us it was built on the site of a Byzantine Church dedicated to St. John the theologian.

I am not Greek Orthodox but this was quite stunning saw a baptism of a child which was very moving and the smell of the herbs was overwhelming - it’s not an all day activity but it was worth a look

The church is rather new, so teh historical value of teh building is contaversial, but it is a very cosy and pleasant place, the atmosphere in and around the church is very peaceful and relaxing. It's so nice to sit under the huge tree in the shade on a hot day. You can buy icons, magnets, Jerusalem candles inside the church.

This Greek-Orthodox church was completed in 1931. It was built on the remnants of the ancient village of Capharnaum on the Sea of Galilee. There are beautiful gardens with animals around it. Its interior walls are decorated with extraordinary frescos, which are very colourful. Instead of just looking at the church with the pink domes from the Franciscan monastery and church, go for a walk and discover it in situ.
