Really enjoyed the tour, super interesting. I am one of those people who experiences a bit of "time travel" when immersed in a place like this. Fascinating to see how life was like then, The indoor plumbing was amazing. And history of Chico pretty interesting!

We received an excellent tour with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Anna. The museum is well cared for and the visitor center has clean bathrooms and a nice gift shop.

The hubs and I were so glad we took this tour. This house is really “livable” even by today’s standards. It’s comfortable, practical and very forward for the time (1868-just after the Civil War). Bidwell was quite forward thinking, egalitarian, (although IMHO, his one fault...More

Fantastic tour! We had a good sized group ages 2 to 60 and there was definitely something for everybody!! Docent was very knowledgeable and had lots of wonderful information on the history of the mansion, the Bidwells and Chico as well!

My son and I took the tour and was amazed to learn the history but it was shocking to see just how large this mansion is on the inside. Worth the experience.

We have driven past this mansion for years and decided to find out about it. The tour lasted about 50 minutes and was packed with info. Mike our tour guide was able to point out every detail and answered every question that was asked. There...More

I was unable take a tour of the house due to timing issues, but the grounds were beautiful, the interactive museum was wonderfully done, and the gift shop was very nice.

Really a great place to stop and spend time taking the tour. Really learned a lot about early California history. Surprising what John Bidwell is a true California Pioneer. make sure you take the guided tour.
