Had a great time with the family. I thought it's a great place to visit and make a nice little trip out of. Very friendly staff. Great sights and knowledge there. My favorite was the bear. Massive animal. Great to see what use to live here before us. Great for younger children

Chowchilla doesn't offer much for entertainment, but we were so impressed by the Fossil Discovery Center. Although it doesn't house the biggest collection, it is very well done. The exhibits provide just enough information to capture your attention and leave you with some new knowledge about the area's prehistoric past (assuming you aren't a paleontologist already). It seems to target... More

Spent a Saturday afternoon at the Fossil Discovery Center with a Sunday school class. We all had a lot of fun "digging" for fossils and learning about the unique creatures that used to inhabit the central valley. Our guide, Dillon, was outstanding, very knowledgeable. He made the tour real entertaining and got along great with all the kids. Not a... More

Kids were bored driving back to southern California so googled things to do and found this place. Reasonable prices though I don't think we should have to pay extra for the "fossil" dig. The staff was very personable, funny and friendly. There were a few ppl there but it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Small but... More

Very interesting my son liked it. I didn't see much dinosaurs if your coming for them. It was a mammal museum of the ones that were discovered right in the Same area. Museum was cool, the tour was rushed. I felt the guide a little rude towards the kids if they didn't answer correctly.. A lot of under the tongue... More

Took my Grandchildren (5/7 years old) yesterday, great time. Docents and staff very helpful and accommodating. Informative displays and intro video for self guided tour. Kids loved the outside pond/marsh exhibit. Definitely will go back.

Did you know that Dinosaur's live in the soils beneath the Fairmead landfill? Well they do and when the landfill was being built they were discovered and there is a lot of them. So directly across the street from the landfill the Fossil Discovery Center was built. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Great place for a 1/2 hour... More

Can't really give an honest rating of this place since we weren't able to see it. My husband drove back here from Fowler (45 minutes) because the billboards on the freeway made it looked like a cool place to visit. They neglected to note on the billboards that the place is CLOSED on Mondays. I wonder how many others have... More

We stopped here on a whim while driving north on 99. We didn't see the signs on the southbound 99. The building was air conditioned which was refreshing, because it was 104 outside! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to observe the restoration of a mammoth bone up close - great for the teens.
