Drive to the top for a great view. Long winding road with blind curves and lots of bikes. Be careful and plan extra time. It takes a while to drive up because of the hair pin turns and bikes and pedestrians.

We made the trip out to Mount Diablo because we were told it offered some spectacular views from its 3900 foot summit. It was a picturesque drive that was only challenged by the numerous bicyclists (we were there on a Sunday afternoon). From what we...More

Our second time to Mt Diablo, always breathtaking. The drive/ride up the mountain has a lot of curves which seem to go on forever, but it's worth it. Make sure you check out the viewing platform.

The drive to the top is rewarded with views to the west of the SF/Golden Gate Bridge and the snow capped Sierras to the east

This is a wonderful day trip. Lots to look at and stops to adventure as you head to the top. Once there a great little visitor center and time to look at the views!!

I did go to the website and decided to try here for an answer. Since then spent one night at Juniper site no area to jump in water or fish but a very nice campground and not far to the peak. I will return for more.

If you want to go right up to the summit, you have to get out before 8:30 pm (sunset; from memory, in summer) since they close the gates to that part for the night. But there are camping sites at the lower reaches (which are... More

Hi, The park opens at 8.am and closes at sun down. "Park Hours Gates open 8:00am and close at sunset. Visitors should plan to be in their vehicles by sunset and headed out to avoid being locked in".
