This is a tourist-y re-creation of a gold rush town, a few authentic buildings and memorabilia, some other stuff for families like a stage coach ride and a pretty fun 4th of july parade.

This is a fun park to visit. There is a stage coach and gold panning available with lessons. This is real draw for children. They spent the day here panning, candle dipping and walking through the old town. There is ample parking as well.

We have been here several times, and Columbia is always worth a visit. This is a refurbished Gold Country gold rush town, with (in season) costumed docents and workers who are happy to explain how things were "back then". This is really good for families...More

Our kids really enjoyed the mine where they “washed “ some gold. Beautiful rock gardens of marble. Old street with vintage shops. It was a perfect stop for us during our road-trip in California.

The best way to break down the long journey between Yosemite and San Francisco. Absolutely worth the detour and truly enjoyable for the whole family, including young and old children, as well as adults. I definitely recommend the “gold panning”.

We took ours this week without any difficulty; she was on the leash obviously and in our arms inside the stores for convenience.

Depends - first it is not "on the way" - it adds about an hour detour compared to going straight to Yosemite from SFO. Secondly, it doesn't take that much time to visit the park - a couple of hours more or less should do... More
