This beach is one of the most beautiful in San Diego but since it’s a little off the beaten path, it’s rarely busy. Our kids love this beach since there are shells galore here. It’s easy to swim since it’s a long flat beach.

If you want to get away from the crowds in Coronado I suggest coming here. It’s a state beach so you’ll have to pay admission but it’s usually less crowded and more relaxed.

In my mind, the only bad about Silver Strand is the $$$ you pay to use it. I suppose the lack of nearby eateries could be a negative for some, but you can decide on that. On the up side, there is plenty of parking,...More

This is a State of California operated stretch of beach that is mostly a campground for RV's with direct access to the beach and ocean. The RV camping is limited to water and electric hookups. We are disappointed that the (2) two large bathroom buildings...More

We spent the day at Silver Strand State Beach last Saturday. Family members had a trailer and were camping out for a couple nights, so we joined them for the day. It's a great beach to walk on to search for shells, and the weather...More

I was introduced to Silver Strand State Beach in 1992 upon my first of many visits to Loews Coronado Bay Resort, the summer this resort opened. Silver Strand State Beach is "the" beach used mostly by the resort, Coronado Cays luxury housing and boat dock...More

The picture shown here from TripAdvisor is on the east side of Coronado. We rode our bikes from the RV park at Silver Strand State Beach to this side of town. The bike path runs along the water with some outstanding views of San Diego....More

A few locals surfing. The beach has a lifeguard. We paid $10 to go in the area and the bathrooms were not even accessible. Glad to leave the $10 donation since they did have a lifeguard. In general, not even average in my opinion. Not...More

It's fine as a motor home park (if you don't need hookups!). There's a bayside and an ocean side. The bayside is completely overgrown with weeds all over the volleyball courts and picnic tables. It's a state park and apparently the state doesn't want to...More

But a years pass for the park, and put it to use! You won't be sorry. Pass good for all the state beaches up the coast!.

It depends. If you bring pets then buildings 4/5. We were in building 1 and it was just right for us. It's close to the main lobby and pool(s). But so are the other buildings.
