Take the beautiful, short, self-guided walk around a large vernal pond in open grassland. By late April when we visited there are still good displays of vernal pool flowers: Vernal Pool Goldfields (Lesthenia fremontii), Downingia, Mariposa Lily, Elegant Brodiaea, White Navarretia, etc. A few geese and stilts in the pond with reflection of the blue skies full of fluffy spring... More

if you have ever got conned by some religion frauds about meditation centers, this should cure you. in the spring, the area around the vernal ponds has a fantastic wildflower display. the ponds themselves contain dozens of critters that are dormant when the ponds evaporate. docents lead tours and show you little bottles with various creatures you would not ever... More

great tours on weekends in the season, check on computer to find dates. Incredible sense of the different places not usually noticed in the area, the seasonal flowers, tadpole shrimp, etc. Dress for windy conditions. Donate a little extra in the wood box if you can

A little-known site for nature lovers. Be careful where you tread, as you might be squishing fairy shrimp or little wildflowers called "eggs and butter." Seasonal
