Mendocino to Eureka take the slow road

Make sure to take the side road through the Avenue of the Giants! The road runs parallel to the highway but you really get close to the trees. We went in winter so it was not busy.

Seriously! Hug a tree, go try and wrap your arms around a 3000 year old tree. There's nothing like it in the world. It's like nothing you've ever done before! There are 3 trees along the redwood highway that you can drive through. Be brave! A Dodge charger fits. 😀

The Redwood Highway is a must see. Be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center for info on the history and geography of the area. A walk among the giant trees is a must.

After driving down the Oregon Coast the contrast to driving through some huge trees is simply spectacular. We found the road surface in excellent conditions. It is mostly a high speed road along Hwy 101, but has some sections where you are literally navigating around the huge trees.

A drive through the redwoods with stunning views, it is highly recommended for a sunny day when the fog does not get in the way of the views.

Make sure you do the Avenue of the Giants drive. It goes right next to the highway and does not add much time at all.

When I head up 101 from Uriah, my feet are dancing because I know I will have a magical vacation! Great road pavement, little traffic, straight path, and gorgeous!

What's not to love about these grand old trees. They are so lovely. This is a busy highway, but as we were there in the off season it was not bad. Rain or shine take a drive.

Amazing forest, definitely work a look. A short walk into the forest and you will feel lost and in another world. Almost spooky.

Giant redwoods rising up into the fog, cold fresh air, and miles of pine needles beneath your feet. Whether riding, driving, or walking, there is nothing like a trip up the Redwood Highway to make you appreciate California's nature.
