There aren't many ways to get from the I-5 corridor in southern Oregon to the coast (especially in winter), and the best way takes you through the northwest corner of California on US 199. It's only about a 40 mile stretch from the Oregon border...More

Absolutely beautiful American highway! Truly puts life into perspective with the scenic views of the pacific and redwoods. Many pull off points to enjoy but bring a jacket for any hikes. It can be a cold Alaskan breeze through these parts.

Beautiful drive yes there is traffic near the Bay Area but a wonderful drive. Very curvy in areas so use care and pull over for fast drivers. Try to stop,at the small towns lots of gyms.

I recommend visiting a 'visitor's center' for the Redwood National Park to get an overview of the collection of land parcels that make up the Redwood National and State Parks so that you can appreciate what's left of the giant redwoods. Even along US Highway...More
