Burke's is my favorite place to rent kayaks. You start in Forestville and end just past Stumptown Brewery in Guerneville. In total it's 10 miles. It's a great trip. Be prepared to be attacked by massive groups of kids with skirt guns or just a bucket of water they'll kindly dump on your head as you pass. Unfortunately no dogs... More

Had a great time on the river yesterday. It was a Sunday which according to everyone was much less crowded than Saturday when they sold out their boats. My husband and I are in our sixties and did fine. With a break for lunch and breaks to check out birds we were still done in four and a half hours.... More

Great time and magnificent scenery. Burkes is a great outfit. They were friendly and professional. They are also the least expensive. I can't, for the life of me,  figure out why the other companies are charging so much.  Others have said they were exhausted by all the rowing. I'm not in great shape at all and this trip did not... Sorry this was a little more than we wanted. It is a 10 mile canoe trip. It requires alot of paddling. We were beyond exhausted. Even our teen boys were done by the end. It took almost 6 hours. We stopped for a picnic lunch but besides that we were rowing the entire time. It is beautiful and the equipment... More

If you want to get out of your home and be close to nature without hiking... this is a great way to do it. The people running this business are very nice and super friendly. I like the "on your own" way, they just give you the canoe and you go for it... the only thing you need to be... More

This is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy Northern California nature at its finest. It isn't an "easy" adventure as other reviewers have mentioned. We rented a canoe and we worked hard for the 2 hours we "drifted" down stream. The river does move VERY slow so you do have to paddle if you want to get... More

The hubby and I decided to do this Sunday morning before heading back to the city for a late flight out of SFO (which we will never do again, but that's another story!). This was just the perfect thing to do on a hot October day. Take some food and drinks and make a day of it because floating and... More

We have been going on Burke's Canoe Trips almost every year for the past 12 years. It is a fairly easy canoe ride down the Russian River with beautiful scenery almost the entire trip. All along the way are beaches where you can stop your canoe and get out and picnic and/or play in the water. At the end, you... More

Burkes is one of the few places that charges by the canoe rather than by the number of people who rent, which is a plus point for a family of four: it meant that we paid $65 instead of close to $150 at some of the other options we looked at. Good start! Second advantage - 9 mile stretch of... More

We rented a canoe, two adults and two young kids. We had little prior experience on the river, but this section of river is mostly calm, with a few sections to excite young kids. So we got by mostly. A couple of times we had to duck the bushes on river banks, which our kids enjoyed. There are plenty of... More
