This is a great inexpensive (free) education for kids and adults alike. They used to have one at Lake Elizabeth where they dug a pit that you could climb down inside and see the exact point at which the plates contacted. Until that comes back...More

If you like geology or geocaching, this is a worthwhile do-it-yourself treasure hunt. If you want a big red dot that says, "Look here" then this will disappoint. There is no longer an exhibit, but a careful eye will reveal evidence preserved in the urban...More

Mind boggling to see the demonstration of the actual fault and how the earth has moved several feet from the last marker point. Then only across the street you see a house still standing through which the fault line actually passes through the middle! Great...More

This was up for a few weeks in 1996, during the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. It was covered up after that, because the city didn't have the budget to maintain it, a pity. For some earthquake related exhibits, try the Math...More

I went to a special exhibit at Lake Elizabeth called Hayward Fault Exposed and it was a very interesting site. Explain how the latest equipment measures earth movement. Sadly, its not there any more.
