Overview
More
At Benziger, we're about three things: family, great wine and healthy vineyards. For more than thirty years, we've farmed our ranch on Sonoma Mountain and searched Sonoma County for the most distinctive and expressive vineyards. Once found, we tend these sites using certified Biodynamic, organic and sustainable farming methods. The result is a portfolio of authentic and memorable wines. Our Partners Wine Tour will satisfy the palate of any wine enthusiast. This tour provides a behind-the-scenes look at our Biodynamic estate vineyard and wine caves and finishes with an exclusive wine tasting of estate wines.

This is not what it appears to be. First, the winery, Benziger, is not family owned although so described. It is part of a large commercial wine conglomerate -Wine Group -. Second, the tour guide is not a regular employee of the winery. What you...More

This was an overall nice experience but not my favorite in Sonoma. We did the Biodynamic tram tour which was affordable and provided a lot of interesting background about growing techniques. I just didn't learn as much or have as much fun as on other...More

The staff is very knowledgeable. I strongly recommend the Biodynamic tour, and if you're lucky you'll get Donna as your guide. She is spot on perfect, knowledgeable, and understands customer service. We signed up to be club members at the end of our visit, and...More

I visited this winery again after being here in 2011. I was disappointed in my second visit. The grounds were just as beautiful, but the wines were extremely disappointing. We were very pleased with our wine hostess Iris, but left disliking everything but the port.

We enjoyed walking their grounds and learning about the method of organic agriculture used by the Benziger family. It's traditional folk-based "understand the land" farming that is very cool and ecological. Kudos to them for being the first vineyard to implement this system in California....More

Blue is the winery's yellow lab who is on the cover of Wine Dogs of California. She wanders the farm with the owner. What does this have to do with a winery? I felt like I was visiting a friend's farm rather than a business....More

Fabulous, worth it. A great way to spend some time. Our guide Mike answered all our questions. Small group tour around the back of the operations of the vineyard. Very grateful we could do this.

Several tours offered: wine cave, tram tour of vineyards, private lunch with the owner. Standard wine tasting ($20) includes 5 wines from their Vintner's Choice menu. Enjoyed their merlot.

Benziger and Imagery are sister wineries, and both offer BOGO tastings with coupon and free tasting if you buy so they are easier on the budget than many of the others. Very into their organics and bio farming, offer tours and info on all that....More

Jill Benziger gave a 4 hour estate, wine, & biodynamic methods tour followed by tastings & lunch. Highlight of our Sonoma & Napa excursions. Joined their wine club.

Ironically, I will be visiting Maine in late August. Glen Ellen is a great little town. Both Jack London State Park and Sonoma Regional Park are right there. Many wineries to visit in Glen Ellen and Kenwood. One of my... More
