Wide open beach. Plenty of room to roam, wasn't very crowded, and very clean. Easy access from the main highway.

Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in California. Quiet beach for couples or older adults.

Take a picnic, take a jacket, and take your cell phone to take some beautiful pictures! We really enjoyed hiking here and would have enjoyed riding a bicycle.

The walk to the protected state beach was about 1.5miles from Ritz Carlton. The entry to the state beach is banned (because of the presence of seals) but the view from the top was stunning. We met a local who visits the place every week....using...More

Hubby and I walked on the beach for a couple hours and didn't run into anyone. Clean, peaceful and lush vegetation. Beautiful waves and loved seeing the creatures all around. Benches to sit on at the bluffs and easy access points. Clean bathrooms too.

definitely not Carmel or Santa Cruz but my opinion much much better, been coming here for over 40 years when you used to be able to have fires and did not have to pay to park, worth coming here just to have a nice Beach...More

You can do so much here aside from Ocean view. Ride horses, bikes, walk on the trails. Family oriented area, very clean. No guard onsite so you must supervise you kids.

Every time I'm in the area, I walk along the beach trail. It goes for quite a way and is easily traversed. Bikers use the trail, dogs are walked along the trail, children and elder people enjoy walking along gazing at the ocean and taking...More

We took a brief walk along the beach while visiting Half Moon Bay recently. Always good to walk on a beach; the Monday morning assortment of people made this walk even more entertaining, with dog people and bird watchers and just plain walkers. It was...More

Hi there, Has anyone stayed at the hike-in campsites? Are they first come first served? How far away from the parking area are they? Thanks!

The walk-in sites are within 50 yards of parking. There is one small parking area at that corner of the campground that is for the exclusive use of tent campers. If you go to Google Earth it will take you to Dunes Beach... More

Depends on when you want to visit. It gets sold out quickly around summer and also during the Pumpkin Festival. Other times your easy to get in whenever you want.
