Nothing wrong with crowds but if you want a slightly quieter experience, walk a quarter mile down from the parking lot to escape the crowds. Lovely site. Easy to get up and down from the beach.

This beach has breathtaking views. It has fine sand and on one side you can see the Ritz, on the other you can see beautiful rocks and on the back you see an amazing bridge. It’s a must see especially at sunset!

I did not want to pay $10 to take one last photo of the beach, so I made a U-turn and parked in the neighborhood. I got a good view of the State Beach. It also had a campground (that was full). What a beautiful...More

It was the warmest day, around 65 degree, but super windy the day we decided to check this beach out. We brought a picnic-there are like 15 or more picnic tables right by the parking lot. Yes, it's $10 to park, but with two toddlers,...More

Very clean The views are fabulous the water is great! Going at low tide you can walk the whole thing. We walked both at high tide and low.

A nice white sand beach on west coast drive from San Francisco. Good spot for a trip on weekends. Pacific ocean cold waters will welcome your feet. Drive to beach along fruit Gardens is nice. A must stopover if driving along west coast road.

Not worth state fee with so many other more private, accessible beaches & headland walks available. And you cannot swim anyway without a wet suit! Freezing even in summer.

I've lived in Half Moon Bay for 8 years. This is one of 3 beaches that I frequent. This is a little less trafficked than some of the other beaches down the coast around Half Moon Bay. Another benefit is parking. Not all the beaches...More

We didn’t stay at the main Half Moon Bay State Beach unfortunately as the state beaches charge $10 flat fee even if you just want a quick visit. We drove further north up the coastal road and found another left hand turn into the beach...More

I stayed at the Half Moon Bay campground about a mile south of the center of town. At that point the sandy beach is about a hundred feet below a bluff. Going north there is a trail along the bluff for a half mile or so. Then... More

The walk-in sites are within 50 yards of parking. There is one small parking area at that corner of the campground that is for the exclusive use of tent campers. If you go to Google Earth it will take you to Dunes Beach... More
