Diamond Valley Lake is a drinking water reservoir built, owned and operated by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. This reservoir is an important component to providing water for 18 million Southern Californians, and is a critical lifeline in times of drought.

To protect this resource, no body contact with the water is permitted. However, the Diamond Valley Aquatic Center, located near the entrance to the lake, allows for plenty of fun in the water. The Diamond Valley Visitor Center and the Western Science Center, which houses 1 million paleo and archaeo artifacts found during the construction of the Lake, are also located at the entrance to Diamond Valley Lake.

The Lake and the surrounding hills have also become known for the spectacular wildflower blooms each spring, and are popular among hikers. Non-motorized bicycles are also permitted on the Lake View Trail, and equestrians can enjoy the North Hills Trail.

With the heavy rains that California had, all sorts of wild flowers of various colors and shapes have made the area around the Lake look so beautiful. You pay for your pass at the visitor center at the entrance to the lake, and then hike. Many fishing and leisure boats were out in the lake. Be sure to bring a... More

The walk and the views around the lake would ordinarily be OK to pretty good, but with the winter and spring rains being higher than normal, rate the wild flowers spectacular.

I never make public reviews of anything but this place earned a cautionary warning for all who may be interested. A visit to this beautiful reservoir turned out to be one of the worst encounters you are likely to experience. Wanting to take in the wildflower scene, we thought DVL would be a great location to enjoy the views. Getting... More

I park my car at the bottom by the water park, and walk to where you take your boat to dock. It is a great walk, you get some incline. I gave seen numerous coyotes and other wildlife including an eagle!

Great place to go on a sunny day, you can rent a boat and spend the afternoon riding around the lake. You can see where they dug and found bones from a mammoth.

It's a nice lake but the boats were slow and you weren't allowed to get off and swim or even get off onto the land around the lake. Meh...

The lake is beautiful. We didn't do any boating. Just looked at it. The first yea we went we could not see the dock. This time the water level was low.

I was looking to past the time and what a great place to do that.....so fishing it is. You can rent the pole buy bait and even rent a boat if that tickles your fancy but fishing on the side of the lake is the best for me! I didn't catch a fish but I really enjoyed my day there.....very... More
