There are not many gardens to visit in the Ardeche but this little gem more than makes up for that. It is just like an English cottage garden, with narrow alleys packed with plants and a few surprises. All this at 600m above sea level, perched on a mountainside at the end of a single-track road. It's certainly worth the effort to find it.
With any luck, you'll also find Nelly at home. She'll talk enthusiatically about the more than 30 years she's spent creating this special garden and serve you some of her home-made produce in her little cafe. We particularly enjoyed a glass of lemonade with Nelly's homemade sirop de rose. What's more, entry to the garden is free.

Very cute and beautifully planted little place. Started in the early 80s now super well preserved. Amazing place to also seat with a book and just enjoy the summer shade. Homemade marmalades and seeds to plant for sale. Juices and honey. Nice walk up around. Definitely worth the visit!

We spent a wonderful afternoon wondering around this beautiful garden.
Lost halfway up a mountain at 600 meters above sea level in the south Ardeche is the beautiful village of Bouteillac, and it's here that we fount the " Jardin de Nelly ".
They say that a passion comes from a vision, and this garden has been the vision and life's work of the owner, 'Nelly'.
" It is my passion " she told us in her wonderful French accent. She has created a stunning English country garden in the south of France. In the calm and tranquility.
Humming bees and singing frogs accompanied us on our visit.
We were able to drink some of her wonderful rose syrup while sitting in her little open aired tea house.
She makes wonderful Jams and conserves and syrups from the fruit and flowers in her garden, even honey too !! and free range eggs, all available to buy in her little shop.
Just the most wonderful place to visit. Entry is free !!
