this place is away from the joshua tree village areas in a residential neighborhood. There are signs to get you there. . Interesting but you don't need to spend much time. Nice side trip if you like his art.

Really important to read up on Noah Purifoy before coming here to really appreciate his skill as an assemblage artist. Be sure to pick up the brochure which identifies some of the exhibits. But before you read it try to determine what you see in...More

This is a really fun place to wander around for a couple of hours. Take sunscreen and be on the lookout for snakes, which we saw lurking in "The Carousel" exhibit. Luckily the telltale rattle warned us to get out before it struck! If you...More

Getting here was interesting as it down dirt roads & I was sort of unsure if I was going the right direction. They did have small hand done signs along the route. This is a large area & there is some interesting displays here but...More

We were so glad we drove to the outskirts of Joshua Tree to see this unique outdoor art museum! Noah Purifoy, the artist of the assemblage sculptures, was truly inspired by his life experiences. If you enjoy assemblage art, outsider art, and modern art created...More

Made a short detour on the trip back from Joshua Tree National Park to this open air folk art museum, which was truly unique, funny, haunting, and just plain weird. Of course my kids - ages 14, 11 and 4 - loved all of it....More

Noah Purifoy's desert art is a must see. Large, vast, lots to look at - for either a quick visit or long. Very interesting. Recommended.

We went in the am and we're the only ones there. It was a great diversion. Really awesome art and a well kept space. The drive there was a fun adventure.

Our daughter wanted to go see the art. We left with heavy hearts. This artist, very creative, used junk and refuse to create "thoughtful" pieces. You wonder what he was thinking when he sculpted them. Look for the "Whites / Blacks" exhibit. Gut wrenching.

Noah Purifoy was a internationally recognized assemblage artist based in LA who eventually retired to Joshua Tree and set about creating his artistic vision in the desert. The result is a quirky, impressive, outdoor (open air) desert museum that is slowly falling to time. A...More

Since this is an unattended, open air exhibit I would imagine one can visit as long as there is enough light to see. I think I remember something like a gate, but nothing that you could be locked out of. Brochures are... More

I am visiting LA and do not have a vehicle. What is the best way to get to the museum from LA without a vehicle?

Can you answer this question? Enter your answer here. I do not think it would be possible. It is really out in the boon docks, and even with a car it was difficult to find. Also, if you are coming from LA I would think... More
