Overall, this was a good experience for someone who has never taken a mine tour. Our tour guide gave a lot of information about how the actual process of mining worked and there were plenty of tools from the day to illustrate what he was...More

Are you kidding me? Talk about facing your demons. I'm the guy who doesn't do enclosed MRIs. Yet, into a mountain I walked. Jerry, our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable about the are and the min in particular. Safety was job one for him. He...More

Our tour guide was Matt. He was fantastic. Not only did we learn the history of the area, but we also learned about various gems, geology, earth's movement, philosophical ideas, comical antidotes and health tips. It was a Monday morning, so only 4 of us...More

Didn't know what to expect on a mining tour, and I left very impressed. Learned a ton about geology, mining, and the history of Julian. Both the grounds and inside the mine are fascinating. Had a fantastic tour guide named Matthew who was both knowledgeable...More

Jerry provided a walk back to rock mining in 1870. He explained the machinery and process of extracting a small amount of gold from tons of rock. You can try your hand at panning for real gold, but you can not keep it. The visit'...More

This was extremely interesting. Definitely an excursion the whole family would enjoy. You get to go into a real gold mine that was now a tourist adventure.

We found it by accident on trip adviser and went there. The tour in the mines are cool to see and they let you find gold in from the sand. The town julian is also cute, like the time stood still.

A couple of the women who had dresses on went up last because the small "stairs" were more like a latter with about 20 steps up. Not wheelchair accessible, but not at all strenuous either.

I believe it is open year round. It is much cooler there than it's surrounding cities and the mine is very cold so bring at least a light sweater.
