Interesting to see an ancient city preserved the way it was. Makes you feel strange walking and looking at life hundreds of years ago.

Although touristy and marked up, the street life here has two dimensions. Along the busy streets there are an amazing array of colours and interesting shops, along the less beaten track, it is a quiet life for the residents. I recommend buying the ticket that...More

Spent 2 days in Pinyao exploring this ancient city and visiting the various sites contained within the walls. Well worth a visit if you are keen to explore something a little different and off the tourist path.

Really brings about a feel of Ancient China, though in a more tourist-y way. The attractions most worth visiting are the former draft bank and the city walls. The Taoist temples and former armed escort quarters are also interesting to see.
