This castle was built in 1440 and, for me, it is the most iconic Japanese castle. Its beauty is evident in any season of the year. It is a very pleasant place to visit and I never tire of going.

It's a cute sightseeing attraction for a day-trip (if you only see the castle) or overnight stop (if you intend to do some hiking or is on a circuit of other cities nearby). The keep is an original (with the old timber frame, which you...More

As we love history, this castle visit begs another trip! Unlike some concrete reconstructions, of castles long gone, this one is the real-deal! Right down to the damage on the sword storage hooks from a carelessly placed sword, a visit here is a delight!

The castle was stunning. However, it is quite small. i spent only 45 mins here. Walk up 4 th floor to see the view of Kiso River. The entrance fee was 550 JPY for adult. Recommended if you are around Inuyama area.

What we loved the most was being able to explore throughout the castle including the overlook! The stairs were challenging and this would not be a good stop for some people. The view from the top was awesome and the grounds and area around it...More

You don’t need to climb to the top to enjoy the views and surrounds. We enjoyed wandering around and down thru a nearby Shinto shrine.

It is one of the top four (varies with other ratings) among the the 12 original Japanese castles left intact (i.e., no reinforced steel/concrete, elevators, modern renovations). I was here during the Inuyama Festival (a must see event!) and so the castle was packed. Long...More

I visited in cherry blossom season. On the one hand the sakura were plentiful and beautiful. On the other, it attracted great crowds of tourists even in midweek. This meant a long queue to enter the keep, and shuffling up, around, and down the very...More
