There is bus going there from Karuizawa station. The place is peaceful and nice. I was surprised to know that the water takes 6 years to flow through the rocks from the mountain top.

A lovely spot to visit, and the gentle walk to the waterfalls is pretty as you pass streams and mossy rocks. Our children enjoyed it.

Was a little disappointed as I was actually expecting a big waterfall, but that might have been my mistake for not ready more about this spot. The view is quite beautiful, but if you have family members who needs wheelchair or have difficulty walking, I...More

This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Karuizawa. The best time to visit is Spring and early morning.

A short nice walk to the fall, different view and feeling for each session and there is always a surprise regardless the period of visit! Not a big waterfall but truly amazing and beautiful, I will go back again!

Shiraito Falls is an unique waterfall in Karuizawa. It is not big and may not be similar with other water falls, but it is unique in it's on way. I would recommend to visit this waterfall if you are in Karuizawa. It's a nice place...More

Though it doesn't have a majestic view, it holds well with its own unique personality. The fall is like a panoramic curtain revealed at the center stage. It spares the roaring sound but a quiet tranquility. The pathway leading to the fall is a short...More

Photos can be deceiving. While I was not expecting Niagara Falls, I was a little disappointed at the size of it. It's about 3m tall. However I agree the spot is quite serene surrounded by forests, rivers and sounds of nature. It is quite easy...More

I am planning to visit Karuizawa on 22 or 23 Dec for a day trip. Is the bus to this water fall still available? Is there a time table that I can refer to? Also, is this tourist attraction open during 22 or 23 Dec?

Hi, I am interested to join a day tour which includes a visit to Shiraito Falls on my upcoming trip to Japan. However, as i am bringing 2 old folks along, with aching knees.. I would appreciate if any nice soul can advice, if the the route is elderly friendly? Will they require to walk a lot / with steep slopes or long flight of stairs to get a nice view of it? Is their first trip to japan and i hope to make their trip as pleasing and comfortable as possible. Hope to get more information on the route before deciding if i should go ahead with the tour. Thank you!!

It is a very short walk from the parking lot to the falls...no steps. The walk is easy with only a slight incline. Don't go in the Winter though....lots of ice and snow.
