Traveled for the day and was well worth it,,, Wonderful Snow in a hide away spot,,, Lift operators were not that professional... but I think they are rebelling a bit due to being purchased by Vail... Also the area needs some money put into it...More

Okay so I purchased the epic Tahoe pass this season so I had access to Northstar, Heavenly & Kirkwood. I went over 20 times this season so these reviews are comparing the 3 resorts. Just some background info! Kirkwood was the best followed by Heavenly...More

I'm from salt lake city, and I grew up skiing there. I came to the Tahoe area to experience a different kind of skiing. I enjoyed Kirkwood... great snow, beautiful terrain... but I'm only giving 3 stars for reasons listed below. Primarily, trail marking is...More

Recently when making a return visit to Kirkwood, I was again impressed with the variety of runs and trails and the great snow. On initially entering the property, however, I was immediately struck by the visual signs of decline and neglect of the physical facilities....More

This is my third winter in California, and I'm exploring the various Tahoe-area mountains. Went up on a Thursday, taking the fabulous Bay Area Ski Bus, and found the place nearly empty! All right! Kirkwood is definitely no-frills, like Brighton in Salt Lake, but I...More

This is more of a no-frills mountain than the others in Tahoe. It's also not a beginners mountain, as most of the terrain is black diamonds. Perfect if you don't want to have to worry about beginners on the runs. Run by Vail resorts, so...More

When the snow is iffy, the xc skiing is almost always good here. This trip there was tons of snow around, but most places hadn't groomed yet. Nice variety of terrain with excellent views.

Kirkwood caters to the skier who seeks rugged authenticity instead of luxury. Reaching Kirkwood requires an approximately 45-minute to 1 hour drive through beautiful Sierra Nevada Scenery. Parking may be limited on weekends or peak ski days, so plan to arrive early! Overall, I have...More

We loved our day skiing at Kirkwood. But watch out for the old Iron Horse ski lift. It will kick you in the calves and dump you out on top.

Not many places to eat in Spring ski time, 7800, and we mainly brought food and cooked. There is a small market in the village.
