If you are in Redding and Shasta area, make sure you visit this place. You will go to the visitor center to buy tickets, get on the boat, take a 5-10 minute boat ride. Then be transport by a bus (10 minute ride) to top of the a mountain where the entrance of caverns is. You will enter with a... More

Your journey begins with a drive to beautiful Shasta Lake. You then board a boat, cross the lake, and hike up a hill. Then you climb on a bus and ride to the caverns. You see amazing formations in this limestone cave. Lots of rooms, tunnels, and naturally formed stalegtites and stalegmites. Soda straws and cave coral will delight, also.... More

We went in February without purchasing tickets online and the time slot we wanted was full! However, we were able to get the next tour (or maybe it was two tours after). The boat ride was nice and quick, the views at the top was pretty and the caves were interesting. Although it was a lot quicker than I expected... More

If you like nature trekking, this is a nice 2-3 hour stop. A boat takes you across the lake to the caverns. Then, there's a short bus ride that takes you to the Cavern entrance. There's a lot of walking but the guide provides an option for those that opt not to handle the multi level stairs. The stairs are... More

In case you have seen formations before, it is OK experience. However if this is first time for you, it becomes interesting. Lot of stairs, go for it if you are comfortable climbing stairs

About a ten minute boat ride each way, ten minute bus ride each way and a one hour walking tour of the Caverns. We really enjoyed the overall experience. Our tour guide "Rochelle", was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job of educating our group of 22 during our noon to 2:00 tour. Yes, the 600 steps seemed a little... More

Went end of Labor Day weekend. Pre-purchased tickets on-line, which is a sham process, as mentioned by other reviewers. Why offer a ticket time if you do not honor the time? Anyway, the real tragedy of this place is the caves themselves. I love caves. I have been to many on the west and east the coast. Most of the... More

The caverns were beautiful. Lots to see and marvel at. Will probably go back every time I'm in the area. A person on our tour with bad knees had to exit due to the stairs.

Trip takes two hours with a boat trip across Lake Shasta, a bus trip and lots of steps in caverns. The caverns and history was very interesting. The gift shop was very nice and all the people who worked there were nice and accommodating. Had a good time. Hot day and it was cool inside. Great views of the lake.
