I have driven from Dallas, TX to Alaska, and now coming down the west coast toward home in Dallas. I have stayed every night in a campground for 6 weeks now, and driven close to 9k miles and this was the WORST campground I have...More

Fun short trip with roommate and her kids. They loved it and want to go back. If you’re prone to vertigo I suggest skipping this. I was off balance for the remainder of the day

My only recommendation would be to camp at Standish hickey State recreation area if it is the last place on earth. Extremely, emphasis on extremely, close to Highway 101 which translates to very heavy traffic noise. No showers, the bathrooms are no big deal, just...More

It was a little smokey (fires in laytonville), SO HOT and completely amazing. A great place to spend the afternoon ($5 for a day pass), or spend the night. We went for the afternoon, played on the river, swam, drank smoked and had a grand...More

We had already hiked and were on our way out of this area in California and heard this was a nice drive so we went and tried it. The ride was nice but we didn’t really need to pay extra to drive here rather than...More

I've been camping here almost every year of my life...48 and counting. It's just a wonderful spot to bring the family. There is a great swimming hole but no shade at the beach. Plenty of shaded campsites. The bathrooms have flush toilets, hot and cold...More

I tried to write a review twice before, but it was the truth about this place and TripAdvisor would not publish them. I was wondering why the reviews were so different from what I experienced. Standish Hickey is a privately run overcrowded and noisy park....More

This state park is great in the summer, when the bridge is installed and there is acces to the other side of the river, great swimming. The park has recently been given a total renovatiom, the restrooms and showers have all been redone. The camping...More

We just stopped for the night but enjoyed having a beautiful tree covered campsite. It was off season so we almost had the park to ourselves. The only loop open was near the highway but we didn't find it too noisy since there isn't that...More

I absolutely love the redwoods, but I've found parts of this park to be disappointing. The staff is great and the trees are beautiful. The problem is that there several campsites in the Hickey and Rock Creek campgrounds that are literally right next to Highway...More

My general rule of thumb is that the more pavement and parking lots a campground has, the more likely they are to have wi-fi. Standish Hickey has lots of trees, hills and a river. No wi-fi.
