I would strongly recommend this walking tour. Philip (a.k.a. Felix) does an amazing job of tying together an incredible amount of entertainment history (movies, tv, radio, records) into two hours. While lots of old Hollywood may be torn town, with photos and vivid stories, he recreates over 100 years of history. Throw in the great S. California weather as the... More

....has nothing on Philip's guided tour of the origins of Hollywood. Philip's fervor, his passion and almost reverence for this half mile block of Sunset, is an intellectual experience based on almost Rabbinical study of its history, culture and gossip. Philip's sense of humor, his wit and his ability to embrace his small group of devotees, makes this walking tour... More

I suppose the average five-star rating speaks for itself, but I would like to add to that because this really is an amazing tour. We went on it a couple of weeks ago, having done the appalling Starlines celebrity homes tour earlier that morning. The contrast really couldn't have been any greater - it was like coming up for air... More

Fantastic tour with Felix - an absolute font of knowledge for all things Hollywood. From the humble beginnings through to modern days, Philip is a masterful storyteller who weaves history into the tour - making the buildings come alive with his indepth knowledge. Highly recommended as part of your LA stay!

This tour exceeded our expectations. Phillip has a great passion for the stories behind this city and you can tell his knowledge extends well beyond the limits of time spent with him allows. I can highly recommend this tour for anyone even slightly interested in how Hollywood and it's movie, radio, TV and music industries came to be.

This walking tour was possibly the best thing about our trip to LA (outside of the sunset at Santa Monica). The guide was so knowledgeable it was incredible, we shared a real passion for the history of Hollywood and walked the streets of Sunset Blvd where TV, radio and film grew to be huge industries. The discussions, insights and overall... More

This is an education for any film and music fan interested in the messy birth of the USA entertainment industry. A well judged history of film, television, music and the often overlooked golden age of radio in Hollywood are delivered with style and wit. Unmissable.

The strip of Hollywood Blvd between Vine & Highland is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Go once & you will never want to go again! Revolting. Now, the strip of Sunset between Vine & Warners old studios - 0.5 mile there & 0.5 back is a gem - the REAL history of Hollywood from the vety beginning - film - from silent... More

This was a delightful walking tour during which our guide took us on a wondrous, fascinating excursion through the last 150 years, weaving together a remarkable narrative of the dramatic events that shaped Hollywood. There is a lot to it, and it falls together in pieces which are carefully presented in a well researched and uniquely entertaining narrative, rolled out... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
