We went with a group of neighbors and although we had all lived in Los Angeles for a long time, and some even grown up there, this tour was very interesting for all of us. We had a knowledgable volunteer guide who took us around 12 different down town sites. The fee is low and goes to support the Los... More

We went on the Saturday morning downtown walking tour with volunteer docent Priscilla, and it was fantastic! We saw so many interesting places and learned so much about a corner of LA's history, that it gave us a great feel for the DTLA neighborhood, and ideas for more places we visited during the length of the stay. Plus it was... More

This is a superb way to see the downtown area, learn of some of the history while being introduced to some stunning architecture in Down Town Los Angeles (DTLA). Be sure to wear your comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen because the tour is long. Estimated 2.5 hours but we went on to 3 and could have been longer to cover... More

What a wonderful activity for just $10! I did the Art Deco and Angelino Heights tours and both were just fantastic. Our docents were very knowledgeable and passionate which made the tours so captivating. As an Angelino it was such a great way to dig in and really learn about the historical sites we drive by and take for granted... More

I've taken 8 of the LAC's guided walking tours, and each one was great. Winter is a better time than summer, as the tours start around mid-morning. Downtown LA is in the midst of a long revitalization, and their historical view is always enlightening. Pick any tour, they're all great.

I recently took the Historical Downtown tour, and it far exceeded my expectations. And my expectations were already high based on these reviews! Our docent, Kellie, was passionate about the subject, clearly loves her city, and was excited to share her knowledge with us. The walk lasted about 2 1/2 hours, but only covers a few blocks downtown-so not as... More

One of the most enjoyable mornings we spent in LA was on a Historic Downtown Tour run by the LA Conservancy Walking Tours. It was so much fun---a gorgeous day with a small group and an outstanding docent made it a day I'll never forget. From LA's first skyscraper to the historic Bradbury Building (the setting for the iconic film... More

I have done two LA Conservancy walking tours: Historic Downtown, and Angelino Heights. Cannot recommend them highly enough for visitors or locals alike. The docents are knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and make LA 's downtown and near-downtown history come alive. All for $10 a person - unbelievable value. Go! You won't be disappointed, and it just proves that... More

Highly recommended. We went on the Historic Downtown tour - Excellent! David Fitzgerald, our guide, is superb - knowledgeable, engaging and handled the crowd well. For only $10 per person, this is an incredible value. David pointed out important landmarks, taught us about architecture from different time periods and kept the tour very interesting with fun facts. This tour lasts... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
