I went for a day hike and it was beautiful. The trail was challenging but I survived and will go back. I would recommend bringing more water than you think you need

The entrance is a few miles west of the San Luis Reservoir and the very windy Pacheco Pass. A day stop could easily include a drive through the park (expect to get your vehicle dusty), a picnic stop or day hike to stretch your legs....More

Largest state park in California. Has miles of hiking trails to choose from, including relatively easy day hikes. Beautiful scenery.

This is a beautiful park with nice views! If you do not arrive early on weekend, chances are you won't get a parking in the main lot. The overflow lot is 0.5 miles from the main lot - so, allow yourself additional time for that....More

There are many trails to choose from. Parking is $8 per car. Stop by the visitor center for a map, and the ranger there will be happy to suggest a trail that suits your needs. We hiked the Frog Lake trail. It was a 10-mile...More

I went up there for the tranchula fest..... Great if you like huge spiders! Also WERC was there with some of their rescued birds. Amazing. They also have guided hikes throughout the year. The wildflower hikes no the spring are wonderful.

Great spot for a quick, end of day hike. Not strenuous but offers some great mountain views. The drive from Morgan Hill is longer than one would expect, but it also offers some great scenery.

The only option in Gilroy is a Hilton Garden Inn, which is fine, but the Courtyard by Marriott in Morgan Hill was very nice and from what I recall closer to the park. I would go with Morgan HIll. There are a couple of other... More

The camp sites at the park are right by the ranger station and the park HQ. There is a relatively easy and wide trail that goes along the ridge leaving the HQ. I believe it is called the Pine Ridge trail. There are wide... More
