We snuggled up and watched the sunset on one of the benches-very romantic and then went back the next morning, walked in the morning fog collecting sand dollars, by the time we got back to the car the sun was shining brilliantly and it was beautiful!

This is a beautiful beach for a walk as you try to catch a beautiful California sunset. For us despite the sharp biting wind, it was still magical.

Great beach, lots of sand dollars. A bit of seaweeds on the sand, maybe seasonal. Stay near town for better access. Regretted booking an Airbnb, near the strand not much to explore on foot, had to drive around. The host was complaining about my cleanliness after I paid $185 cleaning fee. Better to stay with a hotel.

Awesome beach , great place to either play in the waves or just chill on the beach and lay on the sand.
The jelly fish were all over the beach the day we were there and it made for an intresting walk to see them.

We went there on Christmas Day 2020 and went when the tide was going out - the perfect time for collecting sand dollars - as there were thousands of them everywhere! Small (free) parking lot at the beach and a short walk through the sandy trail gets you to the wide open beach which was pretty empty of people. Note that dogs are not allowed on the beach (though we saw some people out there with dogs, who may have walked over from neighboring beaches where dogs are allowed). When you go, be ready for potential winds (i.e., you may want to check the tides and weather before going).

It was a hot October Saturday and many people were at this beach, but there's lots of parking and plenty of beach for all to stay way more than 6 feet away from others. It was interesting to see that Morro Rock was attached to the land and not just "out there" in the middle of the estuary.

I really enjoyed this beach. Plenty of parking and lots of space to spread out. The kids played in the sand a few hours and I sat enjoying the weather and the ocean. Easy to get to.

We stay within walking distance of the beach. Our grandsons love to play in the water and find sand dollars. The beach is not crowded. When the tide is low, there are tide pools. A great beach for walking.

We went to Morro Strand State Beach on a sunny July day. Many were there enjoying the ocean, taking walks, just enjoying the views.

Is it walking distance to Morro Rock from campsite? About how far?😊

If you are camped at the campground right near the strand, then yes. If you are camped at the state park, it’s a LONG walk

Hello,
Can you recommend any specific ocean sites over others? I have the choice of quite a few for my traveling dates: site 1, 3, 11, 27, 29, 31 or cite C...we have a camper van, and we are hoping for peak ocean views and access to the sand dunes from our site if possible. I have looked through campsite photos but it is hard to tell. Thank you!

No showers at this location. They do allow you to shower at a different location down the road with a pass

Is it still going to be warm in September at Morro Bay?

Morro Bay is not warn. Compare it to Monterey. It can be foggy and windy any time of the year. No matter when you come make sure you bring warm clothes. I speak as an 18 year resident.
Is there water on site for filling rv water tanks?

Morro Strand State Beach Campground recently underwent construction to add full hook-up sites. There is also water available for the non-hookup sites. If you like to "beach camp" just steps away from the Pacific Ocean then you will enjoy Morro Strand State Park.
