It's huge, so binoculars are a must to really appreciate the birds. Otters are plentiful in the harbor area. There's plenty of free parking & the beach area is large. (There are restrooms there, too)

Great little seaside town with shops, restaurants, seals coming up close and loudly at the quayside, and Morro Rock

We walked to this located from our hotel room which was good except size considering all the food that was around us. Tons of squirrels approached us for food as we walked on the side walk (should of brought peanuts). The beach was stunning, tons...More

Big rock. You can't miss it. Pretty interesting geological feature right there in Morro Bay. Lot's of places to park next to it to walk around and see the beach. Watch out for kids and birds.

We stopped here after packing up at our hotel and before hitting the road. If you like a little walk, park in the farther parking lot, not right up at the rock itself. It was a treat watching the sea otters, peregrine falcons and a...More

Walk around the Rock and experience the peregrine falcons and sea otters. We loved our visit - it was very windy so surfers were out. Great entertainment all around.

See the rock. Surf the waves. Walk the beach. The beach goes on forever. Enjoy the pretty views, especially sunset. Ample parking, but gravel and dirt lot.

There is a great Bird Festival weekend in mid-January. It is also pupping season at the elephant seal rookery just north of San Simeon, less than an hour away. Lots of year-round hiking in Morro Bay, Montaña de Oro, Irish... More

Sorry, it is illegal to climb the Rock as it disturbs the birds and their nesting areas. I think someone tried a while back to propose to his girl friend and got arrested. I think some of the parks in the area have hiking... More
