Had such a cool experience at this amazing place. We went when the tide was low as suggested by the website. We seen seals, urchin, star fish, and beautiful vistas. I feel in love with this place and want to come back to visit again and again! The place is awesome!

I'd looked up the marine reserve for our trip to Half Moon Bay last August. I was psyched I found it! The website was super helpful in figuring out the best time of day to go and I checked a few online reviews to figure out the best ways to take advantage of the site. We went early enough in... Awesome place for families with kids. We've been going to FMR at least once a year since 2009. Check the charts and arrive when the tides are 1 feet high or lower for best experience. Also check the weather as the coastal area can be very chilly and windy even in summer time. Bring a picnic basket and water shoes... More

Fun to walk along the rocky beach to look for marine life especially during low tide. Going during the week was great----less crowded! Though the Bluff and Cypress Trails were short, they offer amazing views of the ocean and of course, the cypress trees. Just lovely!

Remember to check the low tide times in order to see the tide pools. There's a main parking area with toilet and show-washing facilities. The trail through the woods at the cliff are amazing too.

Friends brought us here for a visit. Absolutely beautiful! Our timing was not good, it was not low tide. Be sure to go at low tide for the tide pools. Bring a chair and just relax. Waves were great, some running at right angles. Nice parking lot and trails.

It's been three times, check on tides first so you can wander out among urchins and near the seals. Beautiful area, great for young kids, don't forget to go to bluff above area, great trail through mysterious woods high above on cliffs.

Low tide during our visits were not exceptionally low (best for viewing ≤ 1 foot). But plenty of critters to see in the tide pools. Hermit crabs, anemones small fishes, etc. Look for ward to our next visit at very low tides to see more!

Bring a chair and sit by the beach and watch the tides. Bring jacket too as it can be cold and windy even during summer. Great views of the ocean and very relaxing. We had a hard time finding it using gps, but eventually found it not giving up. Just 40 min drive from San Francisco.
