Fun day of fishing. Great crew!

I read the other reviews after I booked this excursion. I have to say I was a little worried about how it would turn out. We missed out on the first boat as we spent too long... read more

There is nothing like getting out into nature and experiencing its beauty. Whale watching is a wonderful excuse to get out on the water and see the coast from a different perspective. As a bonus you might just get to see some migrating gray whales and their offspring - a truly special feeling. You will definitely see dolphins, sea lions... More

I read the other reviews after I booked this excursion. I have to say I was a little worried about how it would turn out. We missed out on the first boat as we spent too long looking for parking and did not find it available near the dock. I think this info was on the website so bad on... More

They've started selling the deals through living social and groupon, so we ended up with the full boat 75 people and 3 crew members helping out. At the first fishing stop, half of the people weren't even set up (which sucked for the people who weren't but at least you had a chance to catch something). By the second stop... More

Took my brother and his son on the Freelance on May 25. They were here visiting from Utah and had never been deep sea fishing before...One thing the Freelance does that most 3/4 dont do is give a seminar on the way to the fishing grounds..They explain to all the people how to rig up and what we will be... Good trip. I got my rock fish limit, all the sand dabs I wanted, I had the best breakfast burrito ever! a great beacon cheese burger!! a few coronas (beer). Helpful crew. I was expecting better fish but no. I will use them again but hopefully They'll go to a better spot. I used a living social deal. I wouldn't... More

I went on the Freelance for a 3/4 day trip. Although I'd been fishing a number of times, I hadn't been in close to 10 years. I invited three friends, all novices. We were pretty unsure about what to do, but our fears were quickly put to rest when the crew made it clear that they would do everything they... More

Excellent crew, good food(better than most fishing boats), and nice day. No live bait, way, way too long on the trip back to the dock, and not great fishing. 1 1/2 hours out to Catalina but 3 hours back to the dock. Did not expect an 11 hour day on the boat. Would I use them again? Probably not.

Crew was great. Got the deal on Travelzoo which was a little misleading because it stated that fishing would be at Catalina Island. Was hoping to go to Catalina Island for some fishing but they did not go there. Caught a lot of small halibut and rock fish. I'm sure we would have caught a lot more and bigger fish... More

Trip was good as usual. Used one of my Living Social Deals. Crew is always helpful and most people limited out on Rock fish, some on Sculpin. Lucky for me I limited out on both. Some tie ups from those who did not heed the crews instructions and weight suggestions, but overall a great day out.

My friend and I bought 2-fers for our significant others' birthdays. We bought the 3/4 day fishing trip which includes lunch through TravelZoo. We ended up going on 3/23. This was my first time going on a fishing trip like this. The crew was definitely awesome, helpful, fun and friendly! The boat was well kept and I felt bad for... More
