Closed A treasure of Newport Beach. Many children and adults enjoyed visiting and learning about their favorite sports figure or team. Many famous athletes spoke to children from the Sports Museum. It was a loss to our community when it closed. It wall be missed.

A fabulous community benefit for the 18 years the Newport Sports Museum was open, for health and family reasons founder John Hamilton made a difficult decision early in 2014 to close the museum. John had assembled an amazing and diverse collection of over 10,000 sports memorabilia items. John began collecting at age 12, and many pieces were donated by his... More

I tried to visit this museum in June 2014. A sign on the door said the museum is permanently closed.

This sports museum is spectacular for people of every age. The most amazing part is that it is the collection of one man, John Hamilton, a real estate developer who started his collection as a young teen. Admission is free, and apparently the reasoning is to share sports memorabilia and introduce kids to role models. Don't miss this museum.

Fantastic museum! Unbelievably extensive collection of sports memorabilia. Enjoyable for even those who don't know too much about sports (myself included!).

This little place has a HUGE collection of sports memorabilia. It's a must see for any sports fan. They even have an indoor basketball court that you can shoot around at! If you're in the Newport area I definitely recommend going to the sports museum. And it's free!! What more could you ask for!

So fun! Staff was nice. So many cool things to see and do. My son's favorite was the stadium seats and the basketball court. Seeing the basketball players' shoes was very neat, too. This is free and easy to walk to from the fashion mall or nearby hotels.

An extremely well put together Sports Museum if you are in to sports memorabilia. Love the historical baseball seat section! Not very big, but absolutely stuffed with jerseys, balls, bats, etc. You can easily get through in an hour, but could also spend more time as well. A fullsize basketball rim to shoot on and a little putting area for... More

My children have spent hours enjoying the Newport Sports Museum. The amount of sports memorabilia is amazing, especially for a 12 year old boy. The Newport Sports Museum treasure hunt was not only fun but it was truly educational. Admission is free which was a bonus. I would strongly recommend the Newport Sports Museum.
