Good place for inexpensive Cantonese food and to buy fresh veggies, especially Asian. Very crowded and busy, but not very pretty. Not worth a special visit.

We took the Hop On Hop Off bus and got off in Chinatown. SF does not allow the bus company to post signs saying where the bus stops so, being in a new city, it was difficult to find our way back to the bus, making it the perfect opportunity to explore Chinatown. We spent several hours in and out... More

I've been coming here regularly for over a decade. Suddenly the neighborhood seems to have grown in the area, covers a lot more blocks now. It is also cleaner than before. Buildings have neem re-painted etc. Several wonderful markets, restaurants and eateries like bakeries!

You should check this out. If you are good you will stumble on the fortune cookie factory and get a fresh one.

I came here for Chinese food and to buy some housewares for my mother-in-law. Great selection of small shops and affordable prices!

As with Oakland itself, this area has a lot of graffiti and looks worn down. Even on the inside, some buildings look like they cannot afford to update the decor. But the people I encountered were nice. In one restaurant I used to eat at here, they accepted cash only which was not as convenient as San Francisco but it... More

I try to come to Oakland Chinatown during the weekends. Nice little shops and restaurants. I also take my kids to the boat park.

Come and spend the day with the locals, not only Chinese live here, but there is also a great deal of Vietnamese people here too... So you will find great restaurants, and cheap nick nacks all over...... Of course not as big as it's cousin in SF but just as pleasant!

There are Chinese medicine shops where you can get ingredients cheaper than online. I prefer talking Ginseng oral liquid than coffee for jet lags. Many Chinese snacks bar, vegetarian unfriendly, that you can challenge new tastes. Bubble tea shops are almost at every corners.
