Great slopes, lots of snow. Many lifts are closed due to weather conditions, and limited number of groomed runs.

We've always loved Squaw Valley Ski Resort & skied here for years. We like to come mid-week to avoid the crowds. Since the resort has become corporate-owned, the mentality has definitely changed to the economic bottom line. When it comes to safety on the mountain, this is a BIG problem. Last time we were there, we never saw a single... More

By my estimation, Squaw is the best ski hill in California...Maybe Mammoth. there's a huge amount of fairly easy cruiser runs as well as wildly difficult and steep runs. Even on busy days, you can find places with nobody around. @ half hill lodges are nice for sunning, drinks and food. Gondola ice rink and pool near the top.

I have skied at most of the places on any top ten ski area list that you will ever read. I held off on Squaw for the past few years due to the dry weather. Finally made it to Squaw. they are having the most snow in the last 45 years. I was really hopeful. I had read about the... More

We were not lucky with the weather but even with limited conditions and having only experienced a fraction of the ski runs (as most of them had to remain closed due to high winds) we got to appreciate the beauty of the whole region. Staff was always very friendly and welcoming. Hope to make a more elaborate review on a... More

Squaw Valley has gotten a LOT of snow this season, but the downside is that the mountain is both prone to wind holds and to rain or wet snow due to its relatively low elevation. This means that when storms come, there are significant closures. We arrived here for a 7 day trip in February, and were able to ski... More

A lot of good terrain, beautiful views but weather here can be really extreme! So when it's good it's great and when it's bad it is awful. This isn't the friendliest ski resort, no one is going out of their way for guests. No mountain tours except extremely pricey ones. On mountain signage could be better but I think the... More

Came to Lake Tahoe and did 4 days at Squaw/Alpine. The resort is not cheap and as is predominantly geared towards skiers. The lifts are fairly slow compared to european resorts and lack foot rests on the chairs. This can be fairly testing for boarders front leg with a board hanging when sat down with skiers. Also I found due... More

Going on the weekend? Squaw if the best choice unless part of the ski area is closed. The ski area is so large, that lift lines and slopes don't feel very crowded. Excellent layout to accommodate a lot of people. Excellent, friendly staff at all lifts, gondolas. Plenty of groomed runs at all levels (even advanced). Plenty of ski area... More
