We did an out and back hike to the second peak, about 12 km with 1000 ft elevation gain. The steep part is at the beginning to the first peak and overlook. after that the climb is bit more undulating with the opportunity to maybe see some sheep.

We needed exercise and we got it. Free parking on S. Palm Canyon Drive and the trailhead is obvious. Easy to follow trail but a lot of elevation. Obviously, you need a lot of sunscreen and water because the trail is pretty exposed. You can go up for as long or as short as you wish but it is all... More

Easy to find, plenty of nearby street parking, and well-paved trail uphill--pretty strenuous for the unseasoned hiker, but doable with plenty of breathing breaks (avoid gong in the middle of the day if really hot out); the view up top is lovely!

We walked from our hotel to this hike, per my fitbit it was like walking up 110 floors of stairs to the top. Stunning views and the tail continues to Indian Canyons. If you drive you need to park on the street away from the tail head. Can be busy going up and down. Folks had dogs with them on... More

Nice moderately strenuous hike up to the ridge above Palm Springs. We happened to see a herd of about 20 mountain goats around dusk so that was very cool. Some of the mountains scenes south in Rancho Mirage are better but this was still nice over the large valley around Palm Springs. We started from right near the Tahquitz Visitor... More

We enjoyed this hike...great trail, easy to navigate. Steep at the front end, but very manageable. Took about 35 minutes at a brisk pace from the trailhead to the picnic table on the top.

This is a beautiful foothills hike that is accessible to anyone with a couple hours to spare. We enjoy hiking this when we get into town and only have a couple hours of daylight til dusk.

I arrived at Tahquitz canyon trail head entrance too close to closing time, so the ranger directed me to the South Lykken trail head near by. This was a great suggestion for a short pre-dinner hike before dark. I only had about 45 minutes daylight, but the part of the trail I walked was steady zigzag incline up a dirt... More

It has been difficult to find a nice hike for my dog. This one was very nice. We started on south side. The first 30 minutes are somewhat steep with some switchbacks. Once at the top you have nice views of the valley. We continued along the trail which follows the side of the mountain, the trail is mostly flat... More
