Small fee to enter. Even in the heat of summer it's not too bad for a 1-2 mile hike. Palms keep the canyons cool. We saw Bighorn sheep and various birds and lizards. Small cafe and nice gift shop near the parking area where the...More

The Indian Canyons trails are a great activity for the daytime. The entrance fee gives access to any of the trails in the park. You can hike multiple if time permits. It is a great way to spend the day and even picnic.

This is our favorite trail, to the three sisters falls. You feel like you are in an old western movie, yet the trail is relatively easy and only 5 miles or so round trip. Go early in summer. Beautiful native California palms. Admission is by...More

Great trails but you need to plan carefully to not get caught out by the heat so don't be too ambitious. The Palm Canyon trail is fairly flat and shaded in parts so a good one to do in the heat. The Andreas train requires...More

Palm Canyon was a pretty hike. The first mile was the best part, covered oasis, the next couple of miles is exposed with pretty views of the mountains. Murray Canyon is where it is at though! Gorgeous hike through covered areas, beautiful rocks, jumping through...More

We hiked the Palm Canyon trail from the main parking area in a clock wise direction. Boy, it was hot and there was some uphill to make the loop. Anyway, if you follow the loop up the ridge, the views and wildflowers are wonderful. This...More

We hiked Palm Canyon and the ridge trail last week and the wild flowers and cactus were just starting to bloom. If you can hike in the next couple of weeks you will be able to experience the desert flowers in bloom. Something that hasn't...More

Unusually, it had rained the night before and the river was too high to cross without getting soaked. There was a shop and toilets. The ranger answered questions and led some walks. There were several walks starting from the parking area.

Just a thought, visiting the valley this time of the year, the hotel rate will be higher because this is still the vacationing season. Consider the Courtyard by Marriott or something down from that level of cost. There is a... More

I hiked this trail 6 months after minimally invasive back surgery. As noted above, there are steep steps to get down to the trail and then back up, but there is a railing and you can take your time. Otherwise the trail is... More
