First of all - this is not the big, fancy, corporate winery. With that being said, this place has some of the most spectacular wines out of Paso Robles. This is one of the first family run estate wineries, still cranking out exceptional wines. We could sip wine and listen to the owner's stories of how they started out in... More

Love the Agilanico vintage. Italian family owned. Must see stop for culture, dry farming. One of the original Vineyard in area.

If you're looking for a winery that resembles a Mediterranean palace, don't go there. But if you're looking for great red wines at good prices, this is it. It's not fancy or intimidating, but it's relaxed, friendly and peaceful. And it's dog friendly! I just wish they had some white wines as well. But their specialty is reds and they... More

Our trio visited Marc at Caparone Winery this past weekend. It's a small, non-descriptive building with wines that have plain labels. Don't let either of these adjectives dissuade you from coming here. These are some unique and good wines that Dave and Marc are creating. Sangiovese - Nebbiolo and more !! You cannot beat the pricing on their wines. Great... More

Caparone was exactly what I've been looking for in a winery. Nice view, unpretentious facility, and wine tasting right in the cool, dark cellar. And we were the only visitors on a Sunday afternoon in May. Plus wine tasting hosted by the winemaker, himself. It's a father and son operation. The day we arrived Caparone Sr. was hosting the wine... More

It's been a few years since I've been to Caparone but nothing much has changed. The wines are good and reasonably priced. They have many different varieties including ones that most wineries do not have such as Aglianico Sangiovese and nebbiolo.Tasting room if you can call it that is just in the winery itself. The person pouring the wine is... More

Paso Robles has become Napa South. Inflated prices, high tasting fees, over the top facilities, weddings, concerts, gifts shops, and on and on. Not so, Caparone. Here, it's all about the wine. It's why I like the Yakima Valley, which is closer to home. You can still find small operations where you get to interact with the people actually making... More

We stopped here on our quest to get off Highway 46 and find some less showboat-y wineries. I'd read good things about the Italian-style wines from Caparone, so we made this our first stop of the day. This is not a place designed for tourists. Pulling up to the giant metal barn along a dirt drive reminded me of wine... More

We were looking for an interesting last winery to visit for the day on our way north out of Paso Robles. My daughters thought this one would interest me and they were right! We pulled up as the only visitors at the winery a good bit off Hwy 101 on San Marco Road. It was a cool beautiful December day,... More

After reading a number of good reviews of Caparone we decided to make it the last stop on our first day of Harvest weekend. We turned up the dirt driveway where the sign indicated to find an empty lot tucked between two nondescript brown buildings, one housing a door with a Tasting Room plaque about and another to the side...
