We had passed Pigeon Point Light Station many times, driving up to San Francisco from Monterey, or farther south, but never had the time to stop. On this trip, we had nothing to do, until dinner that night in the City, so finally pulled over, to explore. I grew up near a light house in Biloxi, MS (in construction, similar... More

In every direction, this place is incredible. Rock outcrops, crevasses with ocean waves crashing, beautiful lighthouse and scenic viewpoints! Each photo you take will be memorable. Picnic tables and restrooms available. Just gorgeous.

This was my 2nd visit to the light house and spending the night at the hostel. It made for a very special weekend getaway from the bay area. We left Sat morning, hiked the neighboring Butano state park, checked in at the hostel and scored a slot in the hot tub just in time for sunset. It was amazing! I... More

You cannot enter the lighthouse. There's a small souvenir shop, but no cafe or drinks available. A 10 minute photo spot.

Pigeon Point Light Station SHP is located at 210 Pigeon Point Rd. near the sleepy town of Pescadero, CA. Allow a couple hours to visit the town and enjoy its Portuguese heritage while you're in this beautiful part of the northern California coast. There are expansive white water views from many points along the property and you'll see the lighthouse... More

This beautiful vista offers great views of the beach and ocean in both directions, plus a nice spot to bring your picnic lunch and sit for a while to help break up the long drive. It also offers hostel-quality lodging and public restroom, which were convenient.

You park a little far out and then walk towards the lighthouse. Honestly, the views are breathtaking--the ocean is a lovely blue complimented by the shore/rocks as well as all the plants there. Far off we did some whale activity, and they have whale bones scattered around that you can check out. It makes for some great photos, for sure!... More

Stopped here on our way back from Santa Cruz along the coast road The lighthouse is shut but the viewpoints immediately around are fantastic. We got lucky and saw a pod of dolphins and some seals all in the 15 minutes we stopped there. Beautiful place, make sure you pull over if passing this location.

So, you drive down this little road, park, get out and walk around the property. It's pretty and they have a path out to a little platform so you can get over the ocean a bit. Not too far off the road, so worth a drive to then stretch your legs. Not a lot to see, as far as tings... More
